The Blade, Gruwells' 50th!! Dave and Susan (Parker) Gruwell are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary! Both were born and raised in California and met as students at Pasadena City College. Dave graduated from Cal Berkeley with an Engineering degree and Susan graduated from UCLA with a Nursing degree. They were married July 10, 1965, in Pasadena, CA, and honeymooned at the Highlands Inn in Carmel, CA. They are the proud parents of a son, Mike, a daughter, Jennifer Hillman (Mike) and granddaughter, Elizabeth "Bizzy" Hillman. In 1976, O-I moved them to "Corporate Headquarters" and they have been proud, pleased and privileged to be residents of Toledo, OH ever since. When asked just how they were able to be married for FIFTY YEARS, Dave says, "Well, for reasons no one quite understands, she hasn't divorced me yet and we're both still alive, so it's pretty much got to be just the grace of God around it all." They will be celebrating with a trip to Ireland and Scotland in September.
