The Blade, Schaefer's 50th Anniversary! Beverly and Fred Schaefer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 21, 2013. They met as students at the University of Toledo, then called TU. After Fred's two years of service with the army in El Paso, Texas at Fort Bliss, they returned to Toledo. Fred worked as an industrial and packaging engineer, spending the majority of his career at Champion Spark Plug. Beve stayed home with their two children and then had a career as a secretary, most recently donating her time to the ministry Journey of the Heart. Their son, Doug, and his wife, Maria have three daughters, Jessica, Emily, and Audrey. Their daughter, Jennifer (Troutner), and her husband, Daniel, have five children, Timothy, Peter, Rebecca, Stephen and Jonathan. Both families live in Columbus. Beve and Fred have put many miles on their vehicles visiting them and supporting their many activities. Through their years together, Beve and Fred have cheered each other on in their hobbies. Fred has been singing in barbershop choruses and quartets for over 40 years, and Beve tap dances with a local troupe. They have traveled all over the US (even a few cities in Canada) attending barbershop conventions each summer. They also enjoy going on trips to see covered bridges. They love their church family at Church of the Cross where they will celebrate their anniversary with friends and family.
