The Blade, Burgess' 69th Mr. Elbert and Mrs. Alberta Burgess celebrated 69 years of marriage on Monday, November 18, 2013, with a family party hosted by their children. They met at St. Paul Baptist Church in 1942. Rev. Smith performed the ceremony. They are the proud parents of Sylvia (Clint) Cooper, Vickie Reynolds (deceased), Elbert (Donna) Burgess Jr. (deceased), James Burgess, Deborah Burgess, Eddie Burgess (deceased) and Sterling (Kay) Burgess; and proud grandparents and great-grandparents. Mr. Burgess served in the military in WWII and retired from Jeep after 44 years. Mrs. Burgess is a lovely housewife.
