The Blade, Bakers’ 65th! July 28th marks the 65th wedding anniversary of Gene G. Baker, Sr. and Betty E. (Kelley) Baker, formerly of Swanton. Now residing in Munster, Ind., the couple says the longevity of their marriage can be attributed to having some shared common interests, both partners possessing a good sense of humor, and each enough stubbornness to keep the other in line. Their family tree includes three children, Gene G. Baker, Jr. (Jean Goff Baker) of Monroe, Wis., Garry A. Baker (Wilma Rue Baker) of Temperance, Mich., and Gail (Baker) Young of Munster, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Brandy (Baker) Tyburski, Nicholas Baker, Andrew Baker, Brigit (Baker) Fields, Kevin Baker, Evan Young, and Emma Young; plus eleven great-grandchildren… and counting.
