The Blade, Helm's 50th! The Toledo water crisis could not completely stop the 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Christopher and Judith Garrison Helm. On August 3, 2014, a dinner was held at their home for their out-of-town guests and family. At a later date, a dinner will be held at the Sylvania Country Club for their guests living in town. The actual wedding ceremony was held at the former Pilgrim Congregational Church on August 15, 1964. Chris and Judy were both in the DeVilbiss High School band and started dating their sophomore year. After graduating from the University of Toledo, Chris taught for four years in the Washington Local School System. He then was employed by the personal department at the University of Toledo. In 1991, Chris retired as Manager of Personal Services at UT. In March of 2014, he sold his fly tieing materials business, Whitetail Fly Tieing Supplies, which he operated for twenty years. Judy also graduated from the University of Toledo. Her teaching career started in Milwaukee, WI. When she returned to Toledo she was hired by the Washington Local School System. Judy retired in 2004 after teaching for 32 years. They have two sons, Brian and Brad. Brian and Maria live in White Lake, MI and Brad and Sarah live in Lambertville, MI. The grandchildren, Austin, Jacob, Quinn and Marissa Helm and step grandchildren, Brooke, Julia and Drake Vandekerckhove, are an important part of their lives. During their years together, Chris and Judy have traveled extensively incorporating their interest in fly fishing.
